Acknowledgements

Acknowledgement of victim-survivors

The Commission acknowledges the resilience and courage of victim-survivors of family violence and in particular children and young people who have experienced family violence. We express our sincere gratitude to victim-survivors who shared their experiences with us and acknowledge their bravery in speaking to us to help others.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Commission acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Victoria.

We acknowledge all traditional custodians, and their Elders past and present, and pay our respects to their continuing connection to land, waters and community.

We acknowledge that First Peoples’ experiences of family violence are significantly compounded by the ongoing impacts of colonisation, dispossession, removal of children from families, cultural dislocation and intergenerational trauma.

The Commission acknowledges and honours the work of First Peoples to end family violence.
